Not to be rude, but we have officially moved to a new web host, and with it a new web server.  We’ve still got the great things you’ve come to expect from us-stunning pictures, witty commentary, and even the occasional beautiful woman.  However, we’re also (slowly) adding new features that we can’t do here;  things like an online store to order copies of our new book, easier-to-access archives, and much, much more that we haven’t figured out how to do yet.

CW McCall might have made the song “Convoy” a classic, but Canadian country star Paul Brandt made the song his own.

When you think about it, it was only a matter of time before Brandt made a song like this. The Peterbuilt rig he’s driving is property of his father’s trucking company, Paul Brandt Trucking. The logos on the side of the trailers are the actual livery paint for his fleet of Petes that roam the prairies around Morris, Manitoba. Even though his son didn’t follow in his trucking footsteps, Paul Brandt Sr. still shows off his pride with a list of his son’s gold records and CMA awards down the side of each truck.

Ever have one of those cars that keeps breaking down, no matter how many times you restore it?  Rebuild the engine, the transmission blows.  Replace the rearend gears, and the driveshaft U-joints wear out.  Every time you fix it, you think “that’s it, it’s all done, it’s ready to rock cruise night,” just in time to have something else snap.

Chrysler owns one of those companies.

As anyone who doesn’t live under a rock knows, Chrysler was recently “saved” by President Obama’s help (and money).  Before that, it was “saved” by Daimler-Benz.  Before that, it was “saved” by the Intrepid sedan.  Before that, it was “saved” by Lee Iacoca and the K-car/minivan.

This is the Dodge Custom Royal Convertible, a.k.a, “The Lancer.”  It was the highest trim level available, and was also the most rare.  This particular specimen is only one of six allowed into Canada with its Super Red Ram Hemi engine.  Of course, back in those days they didn’t call it a Hemi.  The 270-cubic inch V8 had a double rocker shaft, so old guys like your Grandpa called it a “double rocker.”  While pushing this car to school.  Uphill.  Both ways.  In a snowstorm.

According to a recent review by Jeremy Clarkson, the new Honda Insight still blows goats.

The amazing part of this crappy car is that none of it is really new technology.  Granted, there’s apparently some sort of newfangled “tree” that grows more leaves as you drive slower and slower.  Well, that and growing middle fingers in your rear-view mirror from all the traffic you’re holding up as you crawl along the road.

A few hundred miles south of where this site is created, you’ll find a part of Louisiana rich with beautiful scenery and even more beautiful cars.  It’s a fertile land, ripe for the creation of another great website named Miss Lou Motor Mafia.

The brainchild of Trey “Blasterhappy” Frederick, it’s a great resource for anyone who’s into cars, pin-up girls, and history.  Trey’s insight and his personal commentary on the local Louisiana ’scene make for a great read, and great entertainment.

While the first generation gets all the glory in car magazines and eBay auctions, it was the second-generation of Camaro that General Motors truly put their heart & soul into.  Although it was still a unibody with sub-frames, the new pony car was built longer, lower and fatter than the previous generation, with aerodynamic styling inspired by much more expensive European sportscars.  Of course, being a good ol’ American-built machine, they had to add a slightly more aggressive touch to the elegant styling-namely, a front grill that’s going to eat you.

The new hardtop-only machine screamed across dealer lots in February of 1970, with engine options ranging from an economical 250-cubic inch 6-cylinder producing a respectable 155 horsepower, to the all-powerful 396 big-block with 375 horsepower.  Chevy kept many of the packages and options from the previous generation, including the RS, SS, and Z/28 packages, the latter of which came with an early version of the LT-1 350 ci small-block engine.  It was indeed a powerful beginning to what should have been a powerful series of cars.

Today’s pin-up girl comes to us compliments of San Diego photography maestro Christopher Allison.

Christopher’s been shooting semi-pro (read: family portraits) for five years now, but only started doing pinups in the last two years.  As can be seen, his work has been inspired and influenced by car shows, something made evident by the way Christopher balances the car and the model within the frame.  Recently, his work has started appearing in calendars, magazines, and model’s portfolios, as well as being followed by hundreds of people on Flickr.
