Sunday Night’s Alright for Cruising

The good folks at the Pony Corral came through once again for the cruisin’ crowd, with another great cruise-in car show.  Everything from General Lee replicas to fully restored Model T’s came out to give this octane-addicted city a taste of its own medicine.

The Datsuns were out again, including this cute lil’ street-ified racer.  I couldn’t find the owner to catch a glimpse under the hood, but according to certain “The Fast & The Furious” fans, the sheer volume of stickers on the back windows must add about 500 horsepower alone.

This little red Datsun 280Z also zipped in to show off its goods.  The owner has lovingly restored everything from the pain to the interior, and dropped in a bigger, newer Nissan engine to give it some extra power.  Let’s hope the little orange ‘wagon in the background gets the same treatment someday…

Of course, cruise night isn’t just about zippy imported things.  This 1968 Olds came in to soak up what was left of the evening’s fading sunlight.  The teal blue not only made the car look good, it also made for a perfect contrast against the typically beautiful Winnipeg sunset.

Peter, the owner of this shiny black Model T, has meticulously restored this classic to exacting specifications.  He’s certainly proud of his car and what makes it tick, right down to the wood-encased ignition coils.  However, the component he was most proud of was his new “Cruiser of the Week” plaque, as chosen by Paul Williamson of “Willy’s Garage.

That’s it for this week, but don’t forget to come back Monday for more great pictures and great stories of what’s rolling in Winnipeg.  If you don’t know what to do until then, check out this weekend’s Manitoba Car Calendar for all the races, shows, and other wheeled goodness from across the province.

Hey Jordan killer pictures, and not just of the cars! You need to find some Chevettes to post on here. Or find me one ’84 and older 2 door standard.
