Top Video Wednesday

We interrupt everyone’s bitching about the economy to remind you that you’re not dead.

That’s right, you’re all still alive.  Granted, you’ve probably been screwed over pretty damn hard by your bank, who sent Guido the killer pimp to reposess your house, car and dignity.  But just remember, any day above ground is a good one.  And if you disagree, you and I can go visit some homeless people lined up in -40 degree weather outside Siloam Mission for a small plateful of institutional food.  I’m sure they’ll give you some sympathy.

With that in mind, here’s a taste of heart pounding, floor stomping music videos that’ll kick you in the ass and remind you to be thankful that things aren’t worse.

The first video is a live version of Audioslave’s “Show Me How To live,” performed in Cuba during their first tour.  The official music video (which we can’t show you her) is worth a trip to youtube, simply for the fact that it’s a 3-minute version of the classic car flick, “Vanishing Point.”

Second is The Creepshow with their short & sweet release, “Zombies Ate her Brain.”  Although it’s really damn short, this tight Psychobilly ballad about a girl losing her brain in a rather unpleasant way (and the ensuing visuals) is good for at least a few chuckles.

Finally, here’s Brian Setzer, a veritable god of guitar and one of my personal heroes, playing “Drive Like Lightning, Crash Like Thunder.”  His trademark sound just gets in your bones and makes you want to jump up and dance, especially on this song.  Look for an upcoming full-length article on Brian Setzer here on SundayCruiseFever.com.

    Hi Jordan,
I’m writing from Surfdog Records. Thanks for posting about Brian on your blog, we really appreciate it! We’re gearing up to release a brand new Brian Setzer album this Fall and I’d love to add you on to our e-mail list so we can send you some exclusive free tracks before the album even comes out. I did not see an e-mail address on your blog. Please send me an e-mail at megan@surfdog.com if you would like to be added to our list!
    Best,
