World of Wheels 2009 – Closing Day

It was the last day for Winnipeg’s World of Wheels, and it was a doozie.  Not only were the Best in Class awards handed out and placed by the cars, but thousands of great people came and filled the aisles, to see the awesome rides.

Gordon Foreman's 1937 PontiacGordon Foreman, Manitoba director of the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada, isn’t just a volunteer bureaucrat-he’s one of us.  Just check out his 1937 Pontiac sedan.

Brent Piper's Model-A roadsterBrent Piper’s Model A-the same one we saw last summer.

Josh Levair's 1970 Super BeeJosh Levair’s 1970 Plymouth Super Bee.  Note the plaques, trophies and stuffed animals-Josh took home at least five awards including Exhibitor’s Choice, sponsored by A&W and “Cruisin’ the Dub.”

Tony Bowen's custom chopperToday was also the last day of the motorcycle portion of the show, “Rolling Thunder.”  The second room was stuffed with great bikes like Tony Bowen’s brand-new custom chopper.

Dan Roche's custom chopperThe last thing a worm sees before Dan Roche tears down his road.

Evel Dave & the Evel Kneivel tribute bikeEvel Dave teamed up with Willy’s Garage to form this tribute to the late, great Evel Kneivel.

'57 Chevy, Mini-Sprint car, and Monte Carlo SSI can die happy now that I have a picture of this: ’57 Chevy Belaire, Monte Carlo SS, and a sprint car drove out of the loading dock and pulled up to a red light together.  The annual “running of the show cars” didn’t disappoint, as exhibitors drove their cars out of the convention centre and down the street to their trailers.

That’s it for World of Wheels for another year, but click herehere, and here for more World of Wheels coverage.  Or, click here to see the MSRA-Rondex Rodarama indoor car show.  And if that’s not enough check out the Facebook group by clicking here.  It’s a great chance to meet fellow gearheads, talk shop, and post pictures of your own bitchin’ ride.

And when you’re all done, go check out the gracious folks at A&W who made this show coverage possible.  If it weren’t for their sponsorship of the weekend, we couldn’t have provided you, the viewer, with four days of coverage on a three day event.  Click on the photo below to hit up their website, or go straight to the nearest store for a great burger today!

Your WOW 2009 Show was awesome compared to the one I went to in New Orleans in January. I would have loved to have met Chip Foose. As usual, Great Piece.
